'Half-naked' students at UM function cause stir

A COMPLAINT of "half-naked" students at a Universiti Malaya 8th College ladies night function created a stir in the House.

"They were wearing clothes that did not have enough cloth and the function was open to all regardless of their race and gender," complained Mohd Nasir Zakaria (Pas-Padang Terap).

He said the function was held on Feb 24. Nasir said, according to the spokesman for the event, there was a poco-poco dance, a talk on HIV, grooming tips and a fashion show.

Poco-poco is a dance form which has its origins in Indonesia.

It is a slow dance and is popular with older women.
The event was promoted in the Mahasiswakini website where there was a picture showing several undergraduates dressed bareback, presumably from the Ladies Night party.
